Phur/Reshi Hot Spring

Reshi Hot Spring, also known as Phur Cha-chu, is one of the most famous and culturally significant hot springs in Sikkim, attracting both visitors and local pilgrims for its medicinal properties and serene location. Situated along the banks of the Rangit River, this hot spring is a popular winter retreat, where people soak in the warm waters, believed to have therapeutic effects. The spring is located about 6 km from Legship and requires a 1-hour downhill drive to reach the road head, followed by a 15-minute walk to the site. The best time to visit is between December and February, when the spring is most frequented.

In addition to its healing waters, Reshi Hot Spring offers a spiritual experience, with a small monastery and a holy cave called “Lho Khandro Sang Phug,” or the cave of occult fairies, located nearby. For those wishing to stay overnight, temporary huts are available at affordable rates, though visitors must bring their own bedding and cooking utensils. During the peak season, local shops set up around the site, selling basic provisions and dairy products. The tranquil setting, combined with the hot springs and nearby spiritual landmarks, makes Reshi Hot Spring a peaceful and rejuvenating destination.
