Namchi Rock Garden, located about 1 km from Samdrupste Hill and 5 km from the Namchi Taxi Stand, is a beautifully designed garden and a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Namchi, Sikkim. Situated at the base of Samdrupste Hill, the garden was inaugurated by Sikkim’s Chief Minister, Sri Pawan Chamling, in 2005. The garden is a peaceful retreat, featuring a wide variety of plants, flowers, and trees, along with several viewpoints, waiting sheds, and water bodies. These elements are thoughtfully landscaped to create a relaxing environment where visitors can take a leisurely walk and enjoy the beauty of nature. A unique attraction within the garden is the children’s playground, which is among the highest in the world.
To reach the garden, visitors must walk down a flight of stairs and cross a paved pathway that leads to the garden below, after which the path becomes steeper. Another highlight of the garden is the Samdruptse Cable Car, which connects Samdruptse Hill to the garden, providing a scenic and convenient way to explore the area. However, it’s worth noting that the cable car’s lower station at the bottom of the garden does not have a ticket office, as most visitors come down and then return to the hill via the ropeway. The garden is open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, offering a serene escape to connect with nature and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Namchi.
