Lachung Monastery, also known as Lachung Gompa, is a prominent Buddhist monastery located in the picturesque village of Lachung in North Sikkim. Perched on a hilltop, the monastery offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys, providing a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Lachung Monastery is situated approximately 102 km from Gangtok, a journey that takes around 4 hours by road. Once in Lachung, visitors can reach the monastery by taking a short 30-minute uphill walk from the center of the settlement. The monastery is open every day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and there is no entry fee for visitors. The best time to visit Lachung and the monastery is during the summer months, from March to May, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for exploring the serene surroundings.
