The Bumdra Trek offers a spiritually enriching experience as it takes you to two of Bhutan’s most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites, Bumdrak and Taktshang Monastery, while also immersing you in stunning Himalayan scenery. Bumdrak, translating to ‘Rock of One Hundred Thousand Footprints,’ is a sacred site where legend has it that a hundred thousand dakinis (angels) descended and left their footprints on the rock 800 years ago. Situated at an altitude of about 3,800 meters, Bumdrak offers not only spiritual significance but also breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
The trek also includes a visit to Taktshang Monastery, commonly known as the Tiger’s Nest, which is perched at 3,100 meters above sea level. This iconic monastery clings to a cliffside and is one of Bhutan’s most famous and important religious sites. The combination of these two sacred locations provides a unique blend of spiritual immersion and natural beauty, making the Bumdra Trek a memorable journey through both cultural and scenic highlights of Bhutan.
