Embark on a thrilling 7-day adventure “Pedal Through the Dragon Kingdom: Bhutan Cycling Adventure” through Bhutan’s captivating landscapes, beginning in the picturesque town of Paro. Your journey will take you through the vibrant capital city of Thimphu, where you’ll explore its cultural landmarks and bustling markets. From Thimphu, cycle to the renowned Tango and Cheri Monasteries, nestled in serene forests and offering challenging yet rewarding trails. This leg of the trip includes exhilarating climbs and panoramic views, providing a glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual and natural beauty.
Continue your adventure as you bike through the scenic route to Punakha, traversing the lush valleys and rugged terrain. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the majestic Punakha Dzong and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the surrounding countryside. Return to Paro for a final leg of the tour, where you’ll tackle the Chelela Pass, one of Bhutan’s highest motorable passes. This exhilarating ride promises breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas and a sense of accomplishment as you complete your journey through this enchanting kingdom.
Day 1: Arrive Paro by Druk Air & transfer to Thimphu (55km, approx. 1.1/2 hour drive)
Arrive Paro International airport and drive to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan. On arriving to Thimphu check into the hotel later in the day go for approx. 3hr bicycle riding from your Hotel till Buddha statue, the world’s largest sitting Buddha, an immense statue housing a monastery and visitors center. Enjoy a stunning view of Thimphu city from this point.
While returning back visit King’s Memorial Chorten on your way and later in the evening if time permits go for a walk in Coronation Park & stroll through the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts bazaar.

Day 02: Ride to Tango & Cheri and hike up to cheri monastery
After an Early breakfast start riding from your hotel to Tango and Cheri Goemba (monastery) further northwest ups the Thimphu valley which is about 3 hours round trip. On the way stop in Dechencholing, where you can visit Pangri Zampa monastery (Astrology learning centre) and then ride through to Beygana for your hike to the cheri Goemba
Cheri Monastery – established in 1620 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The monastery is now a major teaching and retreat center of the Southern Drukpa Kagyu sect. The Monastery serves as the monastic school for study of Buddhist Philosophy, metaphysics, mathematics, poets and many other Buddhist studies. According to legend or history of Bhutan the place was first visited by Padmasambhava in the 8th century. In the 13th century it was visited by Phajo Drugom Zhigpo the Tibetan Lama who first established the Drukpa Kagyu tradition in Bhutan. Zhabdrung spent three years in strict retreat at the monastery and stayed for many years.Picnic lunch will be arranged by the riverside.
After that take a view of tango monastery and take a different bicycle riding route through the village of Kabisa and then to Pangrizampa/Dechencholing via a farm road. Return back to your hotel, refresh and stroll around the Thimphu city toward evening

Day 03: Thimphu – Punakha (80kms, Approx 2.1/2 hrs drive)
After breakfast you will be chauffeured till Dochula Pass (3150mts/10,000ft) which offers panoramic views of the Himalayan Ranges. The pass is decorated with 108 Druk Wangyel Chorten, which were built to celebrate the stability and progress, brought to Bhutan by His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King. From here on you can ride to Punakha (Approx. 1.5hrs) and visit the following Places:

Day 04: Punakha – Paro (137kms/4 – 5hrs)
After breakfast you will be again chauffeured till Dochula Pass. Here onward, ride on a bicycle till Capital City of Bhutan (Approx. 1hr).After lunch drive to Paro and visit the following places:

Day 05: Paro – Hike to Taktshang, Tiger’s Nest (3-4hrs)
After a wholesome breakfast drive to Taktshang base where your hike begins to Bhutan’s most scenic icon or the most important landmark, Taktshang the Tiger’s nest clings to the side of a steep cliff 300 meters above the Paro valley. The place was first visited by Guru Rimpoche, founder of the tantric form of Buddhism in Himalayan countries, in the 8th century. It was said that he meditated there for about three months. The original temple was built in the 17th century, but tragically, it was consumed by fire in 1998. Like a phoenix, the temple was rebuilt to its fullest glory in 2003. Takshang is considered to be the 10th-holiest site in the Buddhist world. You can visit three different temples inside the main Takshang complex.
After Hike ride on a bicycle till Paro Town and evening time you can go farm house visit and try some traditional Hot stone bath.

Day 6: Day Excrusion to Chelela Pass (75km round trip, approx 4 hrs)
After breakfast, driving excursion to Chelela pass.
Chele la (pass), at an elevation 3,988 meters is considered to be one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. About 2 hrs of drive along a thickly-forested road, is a botanical paradise.
On your way stop to view the Dzongdrakha Goempa. Often called as mini Takstang, Dzongdrakha is a cliff-side temple complex on the western side of the Paro Valley.
On your return back take a ride on bicycle till Drukgyel Dzong, along the way, visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. Evening time at leisure to cherish your last night stay in Bhutan

Day 7: “Final Adieu” – Farewell & Departure
