One of our most popular adventures is the 7-night, 8-day “Bhutan Rapids: White Water Rafting Adventure” is a tour on the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers in Punakha. The Pho Chu, with its 16 km course and approximately 15 rapids of class 2-4, provides an exhilarating ride, while the Mo Chu offers a 10 km stretch featuring around 10 rapids of class 2-2+. We offer a variety of rafting packages suited to all levels, from beginners to seasoned pros, and can tailor your itinerary to match your preferences and interests. Day 01: Arrive Paro by Druk Air & transfer to Thimphu (55km, approx. 1.1/2 hour drive)
Arrive Paro International airport and drive to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan. On arriving to Thimphu check into the hotel and later in the day visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang). The largest seated Buddha statue(169ft) in the country Located at a short drive from Thimphu city. Then, visit King’s Memorial Chorten and towards evening go for a walk in Coronation Park & stroll through the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts bazaar.

Day 02: Local sightseeing in Thimphu
After breakfast drive to visit National Library and Institute for Zorig Chusum (Commonly known as Arts & Crafts School or Painting School) then drive to Takin Preserve – Takin is national animal of Bhutan, Late in the afternoon visit Trashichhoedzong, “fortress of the glorious religion”. Day 03: Drive to Punakha (75km, approx 2 ½ hr drive.)
After breakfast, drive to Punakha across Dochu La Pass Located at a height of 3,088m/ 10,130 ft, Afternoon visit Bhutan longest suspension Bridge & Punakha Dzong or (Palace of Great Happiness), built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal at the junction of the Phochu and Mochu rivers.

Day 04: Punakha Rafting Tours Day 1 along the Pho Chu ( Male river) in Punakha Valley
After breakfast, get ready for an exhilarating rafting adventure. A short drive will take you to the Pho-Chu (Male River), where you’ll receive a comprehensive safety briefing before embarking on a gentle rafting journey. As you navigate the river, you’ll enjoy a scenic tour through tranquil landscapes and breathtaking views. The raft will drift past the iconic Punakha Dzong, a historic fortress and the winter residence of Bhutan’s Holy Monk Body. This rafting experience will last about 3-4 hours, offering both excitement and serene natural beauty.
You’ll drive through the picturesque upper Punakha Valley, passing traditional villages and lush farmlands. A short hike will lead you to the stunning Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Lhakhang, a temple built by the Queen Mother of Bhutan to promote peace and stability. Perched on a hilltop, the temple offers panoramic views of the valley below, making the hour-long trek a rewarding experience. Return to your hotel in Punakha for an overnight stay and evening time at leisure.

Day 05: Punakha Rafting tour Day 2 along the Mochu (Female River) in Punakha Valley
After breakfast, prepare for another day of adventure with a more relaxed rafting experience. Start your day with a leisurely hike up to Nyezengong Temple, which takes about an hour. Following the hike, you’ll float down the Mo Chhu (Female River), enjoying a scenic and gentle rafting experience past the impressive Punakha Dzong, ending at the local high school. This stretch of river is ideal for those new to rafting or looking for a less intense adventure. It’s best to complete the rafting by early afternoon to avoid the common upstream winds that pick up later in the day.
In the evening, explore Rinchengang village in Wangduephodrang. A short hike through the village, which will take about an hour, offers a unique opportunity to interact with the locals and experience their traditional way of life. You’ll also have a chance to view Wangdue Dzong, which was destroyed by fire in 2012 and have been restored to its original form. Return to your hotel in Punakha for an overnight stay.

Day 06: Punakha to Paro (125km, approx 4 ½ hrs drive)
After an early breakfast drive back to Paro across Dochu la pass via Thimphu. On your way visit Tachog lhakang & Suspension Bridge which was built around 1420 by Thangtong Gyalpo who was great architect and saint of Bhutan. Then drive further to paro and after checking into hotel, proceed to visit Ta Dzong, then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong (“fortress of the heap of jewels”).

Day 07: Hike to Tiger Nest (approx 6 hours hike).
After breakfast hike to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s next) approx 6 hours round trip hike. It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor.
After Hike visit Drukgyel Dzong, along the way, visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. Evening time at leisure to cherish your last night stay in Bhutan…..

Day 08: Departure
After an early breakfast at the hotel, drive to the airport for flight to your onward destination. Our representative will help you with all the exit formalities and then bid you farewell. Have a safe Flight!!
